Song Description:

Video — A woman appeals to God to keep safe the man she loves. This song was written especially for a female performer who agrees to do a USO tour. Imagine singing this song to the troops, asking them to envision their loved ones at home.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is a dedication to the troops, firefighters, and police who risk life and limb every day protecting us from harm. The woman singing can be praying for her lover, brother or son. The song is performed by Ms. Dina. Sadly, we lost touch.

(Verse 1)
Now I lay me down to sleep.
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die ‘for I awake.
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
I pray for peace throughout the world,
And health for friends and family.
And I pray dear Lord that you grant one wish for me.

(Verse 2)
There’s a boy… a man.
The one I love as much as someone can.
When he smiles and looks at me.
He lights me up, fills my heart, and sets me free.
I know we’re here for a short time.
A drop in the sea of eternity
But while we’re here will you watch over him for me?

(Lift)
I know that it seems a bit selfish
for me to ask for such a thing,
When the world is filled with hate,
conflict, pain, and suffering.

(Chorus)
But I know you know me.
You know he makes me be what I can be.
I promise that I’ll do my part (and make the world a better place.)
Please help me help. Protect my heart.
Protect my heart.

(Bridge)
Will you watch over him for me?
Protect my heart.

(Chorus)
The world is fraught with danger.
Each day an uncertainty.
So please dear Lord will you watch over him for me?

(Tag)
Will you watch over him for me?
Please dear Lord will you watch over him for me?
Now I lay me down to sleep.

Song Description:

Video — A woman recounts how she is doing in life. We learn that everything is going great. The only problem is that she misses the person to whom she is singing.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is a clever way of pining for a lost love. The song is performed by Ms. Dina. Sadly, we lost touch.

(Verse 1)
The birds are singing and the bees are busy.
The breeze is warm -- another perfect day.
My bills are paid. There's money in my pocket.
My girlfriends called to say they're on their way.
Lunch, shop, beach, dinner, dance all night.
(Rap Line - opt)

(Chorus)
Well the sun is shinning bright.
And I’m doing all right.
One by one my dreams are coming true.
There's only one thing wrong.
Or this would be a happy song.
I'm so blue.
I’m thinkin' about you.

(Verse 2)
I've got a dog and house with lots of extras.
My job is great. I sure enjoy the view.
My jeans are fitting just the way I like them.
The boys left standing say they like them too.
Pump, primp, cruise, play, fly away.
(Rap Line - opt)

(Chorus)
Well the sun is shinning bright.
And I’m doing all right.
One by one my dreams are coming true.
There's only one thing wrong.
Or this would be a happy song.
I'm so blue.
I’m thinkin' about you.

(Bridge)
Well I would trade this life away, if I could trade for you.

(Chorus)
Well the sun is shinning bright.
And I’m doing all right.
One by one my dreams are coming true.
There's only one thing wrong.
Or this would be a happy song.
I'm so blue.
I’m thinkin' about you.

(Tag)
I am so blue.
I’m thinking ‘bout you.
I am so blue.

Song Description:

Video — The singer wakes to a Spring day. There is snow on the ground but the sun is shining and the show is melting. The woman is holding a cup of tea and begins to reflect on "the storm" that occurred the night before. Although deeply saddened by the breakup of an important relationship, like the Spring day, she is renewed and hopeful.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is empowering to women. It is a song of encouragement that one can recover from heartbreak. The song is performed by Ms. Dina. Sadly, we lost touch.

(Verse 1)
Through my window.
Shines the morning light.
Just a memory,
The cold stormy night.
Like a spring day
After winter’s rage.
Life goes on and I’ve turned the page.

(Chorus)
But you don’t know how much I miss you.
How much I wish you would wake me
to say you didn’t go.
You don’t know how much I want you.
How much I care.
Baby, baby, you don’t know.

(Verse 2)
Like my life.
My picket fence.
Needs a little mending
Trying to make some sense.
But I’ll fix it.
And now I realize.
Grass can grow as green on either side.

(Chorus)
But you don’t know how much I miss you.
How much I wish you would wake me
to say you didn’t go.
You don’t know how much I want you.
How much I care.
Baby, baby, you don’t know.

(Bridge)
Life’s not over. A new life’s just begun.

(Chorus)
But you don’t know how much I miss you.
How much I wish you would wake me
To say you didn’t go.
You don’t know how much I want you.
How much I care.
Baby, baby you don’t know.

(Tag)
Baby, baby, you don’t know.
Baby, you don’t know.

A flood of memories, I cry.

I remember the lonely days.

Decent Folk   Top

Song length: 4:30
Words and Music by Don Magyar

Song Description:

Video — Dolly Parton tells us about her beginnings. She is especially gratefully to her mom for her guidance in building her character.

Target Market/Audience:

I wrote this song as a tribute to Ms. Parton and her family. The information came from an article that appeared in Playboy magazine in the late 1980s or early 1990s. The performer is Ms. Whitney Jordon. I met her and her mom several years ago. Sadly, for some unknown reason, we lost touch.

(Verse 1)
In a mountain home in Sevier County Tennessee,
A cold wind blew when I had come to be.
Times were tough but not enough to recall misery.
I grew up loving life and living free.

(Lift)
Daddy worked the saw mill and made moon shine.
Momma made a baby every year.
Mountain life was simple and unchanging.
The Bible spelt the rules out loud and clear.

(Chorus)
Momma never had big ideas.
Locust Ridge was all that she could see.
Momma only had big ideals.
“Be decent folk!” is what she said to me.

(Verse 2)
Those Smokey Mountain foothills will always be part of me.
Everyone we knew was family.
But people never dreamed of doing more than they could see.
I knew I wanted more from life for me.

(Lift)
Momma’s people wrote and played and sang songs,
And so did I since I was only three.
No one took it more than just a good time.
But I knew one day my dreams would come to be.

(Chorus)
I always had big ideas.
I knew I’d play the great Grand Ol’ Opry.
Momma said to have big ideals.
“Be decent folk!” is what she said to me.

(Bridge)
I remember uncle Bill.
The Travelin’ Family Band.
But most of all I remember Momma. (Be decent folk.)

(Verse 3)
From coast to coast I’ve tried to be the most that I could be.
I want to be in music history.
But city lights, they are so bright. They make it hard to see.
It’s easy to become unneighborly.
Climb: The dollar and the devil start you thinking.
They’ll change your values slowly day by day.
I’d of gotten lost if not for momma.
Her words, like signs, show me the way, each day.

(Chorus)
I’ll always have big temptations.
City lights can make it hard to see.
But I’ll always have big ideals.
“Be decent folk!” is what she said to me.

(Tag)
The most important thing she gave to me.
I thank the Lord for what she made of me.
Thank you momma.

Is It Time for Change?   Top

Song length: 3:15
Words and Music by Don Magyar
© 2013, Back On Top Music, BMI

Song Description:

Video — A song of appeal to those who may be in need of making a change in their life.

Target Market/Audience:

This song has a spiritual feel. It can be used by churches to attract new members. It can also be used for political campaigns. Depicting pictures of people in poverty or in trying times should help a wannabe politician running against an incumbent. Finally, it can be used to counteract drug addiction or by animal activists and others promoting a public cause.

(Chorus)
Have you had enough?
Have you heard enough?
Have you seen everything you need to know what’s up?
All your hopes and dreams
Only broken promises remain.
Have you had enough? Is it time for change?

(Verse)
I know you never
Thought you’d ever
Feel the way that you do.
One good thing
A blessing.
The road to change goes through you.

(Lift)
It’s not very hard to do.
Just look deep inside of you.
And if it’s time for change just follow through.

(Chorus)
Have you had enough?
Have you heard enough?
Have you seen everything you need to know what’s up?
All your hopes and dreams
Only broken promises remain.
Have you had enough? Is it time for change?

(Bridge)
Don’t let it bother you for feeling like you do.
Sometimes it’s just time to start brand new.

(Chorus)
Have you had enough?
Have you heard enough?
Have you seen everything you need to know what’s up?
All your hopes and dreams
Only broken promises remain.
Have you had enough? Is it time for change?

(Tag)
Have you had enough? Is it time for change?
Enough’s enough. It’s time for change.

Video — A woman is explaining what she expects from friendship.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is for all women who have friends. It is instructive and will help expose false friendships and cement bonds between real friends.

(Verse 1)
It's not calling me to go to the movies.
It's not going out and having fun.
It's not telling me about a lover.
It's not claiming that I'm your best one.

(Lift)
Friendship means to trust in you.
To know you will always be true.
To know you will stand up and fight for me.
When my back is turned and I can not see.
I want to know that you will always speak well of me.

(Chorus)
Make up your mind girl. Do you want to be my friend?
Make up your mind. Do you really want to be my friend?

(Verse 2)
It's not making time to get together.
It's not asking me for my advice.
It's not knowing everything about me.
It's not acting tough or being nice.

(Lift)
Friendship means to count on you.
To know that you will see things through.
To know you will always be there for me.
When my back is flush up against the wall.
I need to know if you will come when I call.

(Chorus)
Make up your mind girl. Do you want to be my friend?
Make up your mind. Do you really want to be my friend?

(Bridge)
It's not very hard to see.
I take friendship seriously.
And I swear you will get the best from me.
When your back is turned or against the wall.
I'll be standing with you till we win or fall.

(Chorus)
Make up your mind girl. Do you want to be my friend?
Make up your mind. Do you really want to be my friend?

(Tag)
Make up your mind girl. Do you want to be my friend?

Make up your mind. Do you really want to be my friend?

Song Description:

Video — A woman is determined to overcome the challenges before her.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is inspirational. It can be used as a motivator to exercise or as a pep rally or sales training tool.

(Verse 1)
I am aching deep inside.
There’s a longing I can’t deny.
A chance to use the gift with which I’ve been blessed.
But working this job just to live
Is taking more than I have to give.
All I want to do is what I do best.

Instrumental (Increase tempo)

(Verse 2)
I am older than before.
What the hell am I waiting for?
No one’s gonna walk up and hand me a break.
I must choose my fate. Reach out.
Grab hold. Never have a doubt
That I’ll succeed no matter what it takes.

(Chorus)
I’m gonna make it. I’m gonna make the break.
I’m gonna make it. No matter what it takes.
I’m gonna make a plan and work it till I make it.
Dedication is my friend.
If I fall, I’ll get up again.
I’ve got what it takes. I’ll make it.

Instrumental
I can. I am. I can. I am. I can. I am. I can.
I’ll make it. I’ll make it.
I can. I am. I can. I am. I can. I am. I can.

(Verse 3)
Wading deep in alibis.
Afraid to jump and reach for the sky.
I never risked. I never lost. But then I never won.
A change of heart has just begun.
Though they say it can’t be done.
If you’re in my way look out here I come.

(Chorus)
I’m gonna make it. I’m gonna make the break.
I’m gonna make it. No matter what it takes.
I’m gonna make a plan and work it till I make it.
Dedication is my friend.
If I fall, I’ll get up again.
I’ve got what it takes. I’ll make it.

(Chorus)
I’m gonna make it. I’m gonna make the break.
I’m gonna make it. No matter what it takes.
I’m gonna make a plan and work it till I make it.
Dedication is my friend.
If I fall, I’ll get up again.
I’ve got what it takes.
I will make the break.
I’ve got what it takes. I'll make it.
